PROMOTION > round table

Wishing to leave a clear and direct mark on actual child placement policies in Serbia, and awareness that there are difficulties with de-institutionalization of residential institutions, ShockART also organised a round table with child service providers (government & NGO) and child service users. It commenced with the viewing of the movie, continued with a discussion, and culminated with the drawing of a Recommendation paper that will be sent to the Council on Children’s Rights (Government of Serbia’s body in charge of children’s rights) and Ombudsman (if one gets appointed by that time). We are certain that the Recommendation paper will request that Serbia invest more effort in the development of a wider foster care family network and make adoption procedures easier, rather than extend the capacities of existing residential institutions for placement of children without parental care.
